Gate Start

When IC Flag U is displayed on the OD boat a gate start will be used.

10 Minutes before the Start IC Flag G will be displayed and a Sound signal made on the OD boat.

5 Minutes before the Start a Sound Signal will be made and IC Flag P will be displayed on the OD boat.

At or around the starting signal the OD boat will sail from the starting mark on a close hauled port tack. The starting line will be between the starting mark and the stern of the OD boat. The OD boat will hold her course until all boats have crossed the start line, or until she has to tack for water. A boat not having correctly started which is on the port side of the OD boat while the gate is opening , shall not cross the starting line from the course side.
